Will government announce the martial law or curfew for this crisis?

“Does UN general assembly make reluctant to Myanmar Government?”

Interview with a politician from national league for democracy

Yangon September 21

Since September 17 .It has started, monks protest in Yangon, biggest city and former capital of Myanmar, nearly 6 million of people lived. People are silent said from government official it is just only a few young monks’ boycotts. Actually, they worried about that. One of the big words in the past from president U Mg Mg at 1988 he said, “Please watch and see about the silent majority”. He referred to the rest of the people who did not come out to demonstration during at that time. After that, I noticed Myanmar homemakers came out and took part on strike. So right now most of people who live in Yangon want to know what will happen and how it will happen between monks protest and government .Yangon today asked the politcian who does not want to mention his name and share to for all of you.

GET THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT

Q1 Yangontoday; firstly I just want to know about the our government, all of you know our Buddhist monks have protest obviously since September 17 in Yangon and also the whole country .right? Why military government is watching and taking no action on it. I especially mean in Yangon, I think it is quiet different their nature .what do you think on it.

Politician; yeah, this is very strange like you said ,may be they don’t know what they have to do but I think government made big mistakes at Pakokku and they won’t make any mistake with monks ..Another possibility is they will do something if they see public participation.

Q2 Yangontoday; what they will (government) do .Monks asked four points for their boycott, Do you think government will do favor or something on it.

; Politician; I think monks asked to government with very straightforward
Firstly, Monks asked about to make officially request on Pakokku case. Secondly, to release the protester who caught after august 17 including min ko naing and student’s leader? Then to reduce the commodities price, finally national reconsolidation. I believe that it is not possible to negotiate to both side because government released announcements by the state own newspaper, if you read newspaper you can see very clearly what they want to do.

Q3 Yangon today: Are you saying government will take forced action and use their power sooner or latter?

Politician; I would say something as if yes they will do it. They will announce the martial law and curfew for this crisis.

Q4 Yangon today: I heard the news from broadcasting service which based on abroad they said government is preparing to take action by army. So what will happen?

Politician; As if I said they will announce curfew and martial law sooner or latter.

Q5 Yangontoday. I think it will lead to confrontation and strike like 88 will happen.

Politician; you can see people desire on monks protest, people support and join that event, I believe but just need starting voltage.

Q6 Yangontoday; what is the present political present situation and our government .they just did constitution and they got supporting from china. Right?

Politician; My opinion is that They have to finish the constitution draft and handling very carefully on this case. I noticed recently they announced by state own newspaper about new constitution it said every citizen will have right to show their opinion. let‘s see China support, I think China will silent on this case and they are trying to avoid very diplomatically.

Q7 Yangontoday. How about Asean?

Politician; Philippine foreign Minster said to discuss Myanmar affair in coming Asean summit. Thailand is also silent like other member I think even Asean also have critical situation because of Myanmar affairs.

Q8 Yangontoday: UN secretary Vanki moon said to be fair on protester. What is the UN role on Myanmar?

Politician ; yeah UN is also doing something .I think UN will discuss about Myanmar affairs in coming general assembly ,Myanmar leaders noticed that and this is the main reason why they were watching on monks protest.
