ASEAN ,Myanamr to discuss about transitional gas pipeline line

Da Nang, August 25 –
Member of the association of south East Asian Nations (ASEAN) will discuss a trans –ASEAN gas, upcoming 42th South-East Asian Economic ministers meeting said deputy Secretary-General Mr S.Pusphanathan of ASEAN Economic community told Yangon based The Voice weekly.

We will discuss about transitional gas pipeline as we are willing to promote the trade among the nations, Mr S.Pusphanathan said at the exclusive interview at Da Nang with The Voice weekly.

Myanmar earns three billion dollars last year by selling its natural gas.

Myanmar already connected a gas line to China through southern port Sitwe. Asean gas pipeline plans also include Thai Myanmar’s Yedagun gas line project and to stretch a gas pipe line through Indonesia ,Malaysia and Thailand in 2010.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was founded in 1967 and it now has 10 members of nation including Myanmar. More than 27 percent of ASEAN energy’s consumption comes from natural gas fields of region.

ASEAN SG optimise to Myanmar election

The Secretary-General of ASEAN has welcomed the news that Myanmar would hold its general elections on 7 November 2010. "It is certainly a welcome relief in the sense that the date is now definite. Not only has ASEAN has been anxious about the preparations for the general elections in Myanmar, but the entire global community has been concerned that it would not be free, fair and effective as a mechanism of national reconciliation."

"I hope that Myanmar will prove the sceptics wrong and Myanmar will respond positively to appeal for freedom of mobility and expression during the lead up to the elections scheduled for 7 November," said Dr Surin Pitsuwan in Da Nang, Viet Nam, in response to media queries. Dr Surin is in Da Nang to attend the 42nd ASEAN Economic Ministers Meeting.

Dr Surin’s comments followed a statement issued recently by the Foreign Minister of Viet Nam, as the ASEAN Chair. Welcoming the decision by Myanmar on the date of the elections, the statement said that the region “encourages Myanmar to further accelerate progress in the implementation of the Roadmap for National Reconciliation and Democracy, including in preparations for the [scheduled] elections leading to a constitutional Government in [the country].”

ASEAN, the statement went on to say, underscores the importance of national reconciliation in Myanmar and the holding of the general elections in a free, fair and inclusive manner, thus contributing to Myanmar’s stability and development.

The statement also stressed the need for Myanmar to continue to work with ASEAN and the United Nations in this process. “For its part, ASEAN expresses its readiness to render assistance as deemed appropriate by Myanmar and in accordance with the ASEAN Charter. ASEAN will keep close consultations with Myanmar in this regard.”

Asean Economic meeting not to discuss Thai- Myanmar 's border tension

Myanmar Ambassador revealed that ASEAN’s Economic meeting will not touch on the problem of Myanmar -Thailand border's tension.

Soe Thar , Minister of Myanmar economic development and national planning is attending ASEAN Economic meeting and but he won't dicuss this issue in this meeting , Said Khin Mg Soe, Myanmar ambassador of Vietnam.

Myanmar closed border since July 7 and Myanmar traders continue their export through southern border gate.

Thailand daily Bangkok post reported that the border closure affects all kinds of people living near it, truck drivers, taxi drivers, market stall-holders, restaurant owners, traders, guesthouse owners.

The closure is estimated to cost Thailand around 88 million baht a day - or 2.8 million dollars.

Myanmar to draft a bill on Market competition policy

To achieve a free and fair market economy system,Myanmar to draft a bill on market competition policy.The draft bill is expected to be ready by 2015 , Tin Ko win, director of Myanmar ministry of economy development and National planning said on Tuesday.

He told the reporters at exclusive interview after launching ceremony ASEAN Regional Guidelines on Competition Policy .He added that Myanmar will draft the bill to be connected with its economy and it will last at least 5 years to finish the bill.

Myanmar agreed to finish a bill on competition policy before 2015 since the ASEAN Economist ministers' meeting which held three years ago.

Vietnam, Singapore , Thai and Indonesia already adapted competition policy law. Malaysia is going to finish it and Myanmar, Brunei, Lao , Cambodia and Philippine are going to draft competition policy and law, said Dr Vu Huy Hoang, Vietnam Minister of Industry and Trade, at the opening ceremony.
The free competition is envisioned to drive down the prices of good and services .The influx of foreign direct investment on the other hands to create the jobs said Myanmar delegate.

ASEAN Regional Guidelines books are meant to help raise awareness among the targeted groups, to develop a competitive culture amongst the business community and to further create a favorable environment for the introduction and enforcement of competition policy and law.

Myanmar Delegates leave regional forum before the end

One of the popular delegates team among ASEAN regional forum ,Myanmar will leave forum today ,one day earlier the end of the forum confirmed the source from Vietnam Ministry of foreign affairs.
Myanmar Foreign Minister U Nyan win will depart Hanoi to night with TG 565 flight 8-45 PM local time from Noi -bai international airport might head to Bangkok.
He arrived last 18 July to Hanoi and already planned to back 22 July source added.
"ASEAN is very much concerned and ASEAN is very much interested in the peaceful national reconciliation in Myanmar." said Dr surin ASEAN Secretariat AFP reported recently.

Myanmar delegate u khin mg soe confirmed that minister will back to night at NCC a few minutes ago.
Vietnam ministry of foreign affairs arranged one car for Myanmar foreign minister and one for high ranking official from hotel to airport.
US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said last a few minutes ago she supported a call by the leaders of the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) for fair elections in military-run Myanmar, a member of the regional bloc.
ASEAN forum seems to be retreated without Myanmar top diplomat but couldn't get confirmation from Myanmar delegates.
Myanmar will imprints ASEAN for 13 years exactly in tomorrow with Laos PDR together.
Second largest country in ASEAN become ASEAN member since 1997 July 23.
At july 23 there are alot of events inculding closing ceremony signing ceremony and press conference at Hanoi National convention center.

After 13 years,ASEAN stressed for Myanmar to continue

South east Asian countries (ASEAN)stressed the need of Myanmar ,one
of the dominance issue at Regional Forum ,to continue to work ASEAN
according to the press release of Joint communication of the ARF .
it is come out before the 2 days before Myanmar ASEAN imprints of the 13
years, Myanmar become ASEAN member July 23 1997.
Nearly 800 journalists who joined the ARF,mostly want to know about the
Myanmar nuclear plan and election .
“no comments” that is what Myanmar foregin minister said to the
journalists.
Some journalist asked about the Myanmar upcoming election exact date but
Myanmar Foreign Minister U Nyan Win, in keeping with his government's
typical secrecy, did not give a date for the vote. "The responsibility is for
the ... elections commissioner, not the foreign minister," AFP reported .
“ may be before the 31st December that will be held” joked Burmese
journalist who is joining the ARF forum .
But yesterday meeting Southeast Asian foreign ministers urged Myanmar's
military-run government to hold free and fair elections.
ASEAN foregin ministers underscored the importance og national
reconciliation in Myanmar and to holding the first election during the two
decades ARF press release said .
One of the issue that related Myanmar nuclear plan is hot topic at among
the journalists at international media center of Hanoi .But in last June
6, Myanmar government officially denied that is beyond the capacity of
Myanmar juntas.
People of Myanmar hoped that ASEAN could brings something good for the
Military ruled country .But it is something like “ getting nowhere” nearly 13
years.

at the one of meeting of the ARF south East Asia Nuclear Weapons free
zone ,The ministers review and intensify the effort in implementing the the
action plan .

zone and but had some attempts to get nuclear power.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa told reporters ASEAN could
consider sending people to observe the elections.
But Myanmar government already said the don’t need any observer from
outside while US offer for monitoring.After myanmar goverment deny
united state has said election won’t be free and fair.
ARF meeting will end at coming July 23 and north Korean and Myanmar
issue still keep dominance in Hanoi and the place may be getting heat when
US sereatry of the state ,Hilary clinton arrive .
Under the same sheleter ,US delegates, North korean Delegates and
Myanamr delegates for a talk.
