Myanmar Hotels to operate Asean Green Hotel’s Standards

Hotels in Myanmar have to operate Asean Green Hotel’ standards which prevent environmental pollution from coming year 2008, said Brig- Gen Soe Naing Ministry for Hotel and Tourism at the meeting which held in Naypyi daw at September 8.

Asean Green Hotel’s standards include Green Hotel environment, Food and Beverage Services, Public Rest room, Home Stay, Ecotourism, Tourism Heritage.

There are other 25 detail rules to meet this standards and some rule includes participating of hotel’ staffs, guests, clients and suppliers to have a habit of preventing green environment.

Hotels from ten South East Asian Nations including Myanmar plan to complete Asean Green Hotel’s Standards from 2008 to 2010. In addition, each Tourism ministers will sign Asian Tourism Standard certificate.

Mostly Hotels in western countries are used to green label standards, which contain waste management techniques, e.g. waste reduction, reuse, recycling, waste separation and composting.
Western visitors choose these kinds of hotels.
There are 600 hotels, which have 19560 hotel rooms in Myanmar after government allows private owned hotels.
